Studying at home is so important, but often students find
studying boring or they study ineffectively. Good study habits can vastly
improve grades. Tip 1: Use flash cards! Having small “sound bites” of
information is less intimidating to study and aids in memorization. Tip 2:
Create a practice test for yourself. When you start thinking about how
questions and answers are formed, the material sinks in.

Daylight Savings is approaching! It’s so important that we
schedule our days so that we get the most out of them. Did you know that
William Shakespeare wrote 38 plays and 154 sonnets in 24 years? He would never
have accomplished all that if he spent most of his free time watching TV! Do
you have a project you’re trying to accomplish in your free time? If you had an
extra hour every day, how would you spend it?

Harrison School District Two Gifted and Talented Student Blog: January Blog Topic:
Happy New Year! It is that time of year when people make resloutions or set goals for the new year. Many people make resolutions to exercise more, lose weight, save money, or spend more time with family and friends. I decided that I would watch less television this year. I outlined a plan that included reading a book a month, listing my favorite shows and only watching them as well as setting mandatory times that the television had to be off. I set a goal and outlined a plan to get there. The blog topic this month is about goal setting or making resolutions. What is a goal you have set for yourself for 2013? How do you plan to achieve your goal? If you have not set a goal for yourself this year, now is the time to read and get some ideas. You goals can be academic, health or activity based. What is your goal and how will you make sure you are successful in achieving it?
